Rothgeb, a charter member of the World Barista Championship board, conceived Wrecking Ball with Nick Cho in Washington, D.C., and the company dates to 2011. The Union Street cafe in Cow Hollow opened in 2014. As of October 2026 the online store lists Pillow Fight espresso, the Triple Double blend and single origins from Ethiopia, Guatemala and Kenya.
The cafe is a white room with navy pineapple-and-flower wallpaper along the front wall and retail shelves of coffee bags on the left. Two bistro tables stand on the sidewalk outside.
