Joshua Kaplowitz spent nearly eight years at Saint Frank before starting Better Half. As of 2026 the counter pours coffee from roasters including Flower Child and Hedge, with pastries from Bellaria Desserts, and a slow bar tasting of Flower Child's La Esmeralda Gesha followed in September 2025.
The shop sits in a corner room of the Bar Bibi wine bar on Pacific Avenue, under a grid of stained wood beams and globe lights, with a shelf of wine bottles on the wall behind the counter. Floor-to-ceiling windows face the street, and metal tables stand on the sidewalk at the Morrell Street corner.
